Bo Knows Clothes

So much for my assumptions about the popularity of Porties (as owners call them, or PWDs if you’re upscale about the whole thing).  Not only are the breeders nuts, but so are the owners — and the dogs, according to the WSJ report.  Mrs. Pincus, whose search for an Iberian nautical pooch is recorded here, understands the responsibility that is Portie ownership:

Even after expensive dog training, she still muzzles Milo when they go out so he won’t nip people in their building or go after strangers in unusual clothing.

Parachute pants?  Seersucker?

Officially PWD (Image)

I spect that the fears about PWDs becoming the next hot breed are unfounded.  Don’t misunderstand me, I love our dogs Carmen and (HPBlvd mascot) Roscoe, but they are goofy looking beasts.  Bo included.

Bo Knows II

cover_newyorker_190This week’s cover
Despite prepping with the Kennedys, Bo arrives and the Obamas have their hands full. PWDs require a lot of attention, training, love. In the best of circumstances, they are engaging, funny, mouthy, needy. Their puppyhood extends beyond three years.

Roscoe, HPBlvd mascot, is just about three. Would that Bo turn out as well.

Meanwhile, this is a small breed that depends on quality breeders. Keeping PWDs away from puppy mills and the inevitable demand will be a chore. We can hope for the best.
